"O EI tem uma crescente capacidade de dirigir e inspirar ataques contra um amplo espectro de objetivos no mundo", declarou Clapper um relatório apresentado ao Congresso americano.

Segundo ele, os islamitas erradicados em território dos Estados Unidos representam "a ameaça sunita mais significativa" para o país.

Por outro lado, Clapper afirmou ainda que a Coreia do Norte reiniciou um reator de plutônio que poderá alimentar armas nucleares.

"Consideramos que a Coreia do Norte está operando o reator por um tempo suficiente para poder recuperar plutônio (...) em coisa de semanas ou meses", assinalou.
